Walking Gracefully Through the Holidays

The holidays are upon us and along with the joy and the feasting come the tests. This week in our Rare Mothers in Relationships workshop, we talked about how to walk in integrity through your family gatherings.

It can be easy to fall into old patterns like colluding with your sister-in-law about how challenging your mother-in-law is, or maybe you feel like your family still doesn’t understand how to skillfully relate to your Rare child even after all this time.

You might also be frustrated with your mother or another relative because they offer unsolicited advice as to how you might parent your child. All of this has the potential to tap us into our less developed selves.

How can you stay in integrity rather than fall into negative habit patterns? Here are some ideas:

  • Set an intention to be aware of your thoughts, words and deeds when you wake up.

  • Gracefully decline the invitation to talk behind someone’s back and instead, commit to speaking respectfully of others. It’s up to you to lead with love and kindness.

  • Notice people's positive intentions. Make a commitment to look for the good.

  • Recognize that you are not going to change anyone. Practice acceptance and generosity.

  • If you’re feeling triggered, step away and take a few minutes to calm yourself and speak words of kindness to yourself. Thoughts become things.

This week is our last meeting of the year

We will close out this 12-week series with a recap of our journey. Let’s come together and harvest the gems that we’ve received. Everyone is welcome.

We would love to meet you and support you and your family. This weekly workshop is a precious opportunity to come together with other Rare mothers in an intimate setting. There are Rare mothers who are at the beginning of their journey and others who are at the end. We are a wise community of women who meet on Tuesday mornings at 10am PST.

New Workshop Series Starts on January 4th

This workshop has been so rich and nourishing that we have decided to continue. We will open the workshop to new members and many of our wonderful old members will be continuing. The start date for the new workshop is January 4, 2022.
