Self Care Tuesday

Weekly Meetup with Padma Gordon [Online - Support Group]

Join Padma Gordon, an embodied mindfulness counselor Tuesdays at 10 AM PT.

This workshop will offer tools for creating and sustaining more loving relationships, navigating challenges, and working together as a team. We will discuss the importance of tending to oneself within a relationship so that we can tend to others. There will be space to bring your questions, challenges, and triumphs. We will gather as a group to support one another in our families.

Raregivers™ hosts our workshops and community connections via a custom-application called ‘Mighty Networks’ - much like a private Facebook group (minus the advertising and friend/family posts). Our community is 100% dedicated to you! Sign up for a free account and learn more on our Mighty Networks community.

Women’s Empowerment Circle

Weekly Meetup with Pamela Russell [Online - Support Group]

Join Pamela Russell on Thursdays at 10 am PT, for an empowering round table experience by building community through organic support with other Rare Mothers that might be in the same space as you. Come as you are. No preparation is required to join.

We will gather to hear from Rare Mothers in our community. As one mother put it, “We are rare, but we are not alone.” This is an opportunity to share stories and see yourself reflected in others.

Raregivers™ for Men Monthly Meetup with Christopher Velona [Online - Support Group]

Raregivers™ Men’s Meetup is a monthly event, hosted by Christopher Velona on the second Saturday of every month at 11:00am PST. Come to listen, participate and connect with other men in the rare disease community.

Topics will include forgiveness, surrender, willingness and more!

Christopher Velona is a consultant, podcaster, blogger, rare disease advocate, philanthropist, and single father to two boys; one with special needs. He is the founder of Project Sebastian, a non-profit raising awareness to help all families who are affected by rare disease.

This group is here to help break the stigma around men’s mental health. Societal norms tell us that men do not need any emotional support at all. After all, men are taught to be fixers and not listeners. Here we look at mental health and how being a caregiver can take its toll on us. We encourage you to take a look at your emotional well being and help to understand you are not alone. These sessions will provide caregivers with a safe space to build community, talk about your experiences, support and listen to each other. Yes, there are a few sides to masculinity!

Raregivers™ Monthly Meetup with Padma Gordon [Online - Support Group]

Raregivers™ Meetup is a monthly event, hosted by Padma Gordon on the second Wednesday of every month, from 6 - 7:00 PM PT

Come to listen, come to participate, come to connect - just come as you are!  The conversation will center upon the needs, desires, and situations as unique as the group gathered. But, most important of all, is the benefits gained from collective wisdom, shared experience, and unconditional support.

Raregivers™ hosts our workshops and community connections via a custom-application called ‘Mighty Networks’ - much like a private Facebook group (minus the advertising and friend/family posts). M.O.R.E - Rare Mother Wellness Retreat [Online]

We understand you. We know first hand how much you have given to your child and the toll of being a caregiver to a child with rare disease can place on your mind and body. We know because we’ve been there too.

M.O.R.E is a virtual wellness experience guided by professional clinicians and self-care experts specializing in rare disease parenting. You will gain experience, education and empowerment to reconnect you with the women you were before you became a Rare Mom. Many of our moms tell us they felt “invisible” before coming to the retreat and after they left empowered and excited.

WEBINAR: Helping Rare Families Manage Medical Trauma

When you first become a caregiver, whether to a newborn baby, a child by adoption, or through some other life circumstance, it involves so many changes. When your child faces medical challenges, it can lead to anxiety and trauma both in your child and in you as a caregiver.

Join ANGEL AID and Melissa J. Hogan, medical trauma coach, rare disease mother, and co-author of “Afraid of the Doctor: Every Parent’s Guide to Preventing and Managing Medical Trauma”  as we explore your role as a caregiver, how medical experiences can affect you in negative ways, and how to prevent and manage that anxiety and trauma to the benefit of yourself and your child.

A Global Celebration Honoring Rare Mothers

In 2020, ANGEL AID raised $100,000 to help fund our Global Crisis Response System for Rare Mothers. This 24/7 resource was built with Microsoft Hack for Good volunteers and requires considerable philanthropic support to these mental health services to mothers who need them most.

We reached our goal but we still need YOUR HELP!

Watch the replay of our YouTube recording to see how ANGEL AID volunteers and donors support our courageous Rare Mother community.
