You Are Worthy

As a Rare mother, your self-care may often fall by the wayside. Is this true for you? I want to remind you that you are worthy of care whether your child is still young, an adult and living in a group home or if your child has passed away. We had a very deep discussion about this in our Spiritual Self-care Workshop this past week.

You belong here.

You belong in this community and it is your birthright to feel connected to yourself and to the essential homeless that lives in you. You belong in this group of incredible Rare mothers who are gathering.

These affirmations are a great way to encourage a feeling of wholeness: I am worthy. I am whole.

How often do feelings of unworthiness arise? Maybe you tell yourself, “I should be doing a better job of taking care of my rare child. I should be advocating more strongly. I should be…”

Most of us are prone to feelings of unworthiness so here are some ways to tend lovingly to yourself if these feelings arise:

  • Let yourself cry. Feel your feelings.

  • Write in a journal. Get it out of your head.

  • Take a nap.

  • Do some movement.

  • Wrap your arms around yourself and rock yourself gently. This is a powerful form of self soothing.

  • Turn your attention inside and orient to peace. Follow your breath, it will lead you there.

  • Place a hand on your heart, close your eyes and meditate for a few moments. Whisper to yourself, "I am worthy, I am worthy."

Join Us

Neglecting your self-care can create stress in you and consequently in your family. Come and join us in our Spiritual Self-Care Workshop and be nourished.

Give yourself a chance to be seen and heard by other Rare mothers who "get" you. It is a chance to be reminded that you are not alone. We meet on Tuesday mornings at 10 AM Pacific Time. We do a short meditation followed by some journaling and then have an open conversation. Please bring a pen and paper. Come as you ARE. Come late. All are welcome.

Use this link to join.

I hope to see you there. If you have any trouble signing on, please reach out to Paige. She is here to support you too.

With blessings,

Padma
