Wellness Therapist, MSW

Status: Hourly

Weekly supervision cost covered by agency to gain clinical licensure
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Breaks scheduled by therapist as needed.
Scheduling of clients is based on the health status of caregiver.
ANGEL AID currently outsources 24/7 crisis services. Part-time therapists will not be available outside work hours or days but will provide each client with resources in the event of a mental health crisis.
Position Description: The therapist will provide culturally competent mental health services to individuals and families who are experiencing varying levels of difficulties due to their child being diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The therapist will use a trauma focused model in combination with psychotherapy to decrease levels of depression and anxiety, and to teach skills to manage stress and resilience. The therapist will oversee the recruitment and supervision of MSW interns in the United States. The therapist will collaborate with Dr. Riordan and/or ANGEL AID staff who will oversee recruitment and supervision of MSW interns.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Provide high quality, compassionate and ethical mental health therapy to clients as scheduled.
Attend monthly staff meetings in person or by ZOOM.
Participate by phone in weekly Programs Meetings when available.
Present to staff, the Board of Directors, at ANGEL AID events, and partnering agencies when requested and based on therapist’s availability.
Stay current with updated research and best practices, specifically in regards to the trauma focused models and psychotherapy.
Coordinate with regional children’s hospitals and rare community agencies to recruit participants.
Secure client information per HIPAA standards.
Complete initial assessment to obtain information concerning social history, treatment and other pertinent information to determine eligibility for ongoing therapy.
Plan and administer therapeutic treatment, behavior modification techniques, and stress management skills.
Consult with psychiatrist or other specialists concerning treatment plans and amend plans on an as needed basis, understanding that ANGEL AID does not diagnose clients but refers out for service.
Maintain statistics to be used in grant proposals.
Be visible and engaged with ANGEL AID #RareMothers community on Mighty Networks.
Consult with Programs team when necessary regarding conflict resolution, crisis management, or other situations that arise and staff require training or direction.
Recruit, train and supervise MSW interns while collaborating with Dr. Riordan and/or ANGEL AID staff supervising MSW interns.
Complete all recommended licensure hours to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as well as continuing education requirements as outlined by the National Association of Social Workers.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of family systems and their impact on mental health within the family.
Skill in applying varied interventions with individuals/families in crisis.
Skill in working with a variety of cultures.
Skill in working independently and implementing time management strategies.
Ability to provide necessary self-care.
Ability to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Management experience.
Knowledge of recruitment, training and supervision of MSW Interns.
Ideally, bilingual fluency in one of the following languages: Spanish, Hindi, Malay, German.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a mental health-related field, preferably in Social Work or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Previous experience in providing therapy and mental health services, and/or knowledge of the difficulties families experience when caregiving for a child with a life-threatening illness.
Previous experience working with external resources like interns or volunteers.
