Gratitude Changes Everything

This past week and our Rare Mothers in Relationships Workshop we talked about how gratitude can seed the ground of your connection with goodness. Being grateful for the little things that your partner does makes them feel good and they know they are valued. By doing this, you are leading a culture of gratitude, a life where appreciating each other is the norm.

As a Rare Mother, you may not feel appreciated all the time by your partner or husband. This can make it tricky to focus on the things that are precious in your relationship. It is helpful to train yourself to look for goodness. For instance, maybe you shared a moment in the morning or last thing at night when your child was sleeping and you had the space to rest quietly together. Sinking into the feeling of resting your head on your partner's chest or cuddling into the crook of their arm is small and yet, it can feed you both.

Noticing takes practice and intention.

This week we did a practice called sensation tracking which supports the art of noticing.

Sensation Tracking:

Try practicing this for three minutes each day with a timer. You can practice first thing in the morning, in the middle of the day, and before you fall asleep.

Sit quietly and take a few deep breaths.

Close your eyes and turn your attention toward yourself.

Notice one physical sensation that you may be experiencing.

Notice it without making it mean anything.

This is a practice of observation without judgment.

As you do this, breathe and receive your experience.

Take your time.

After you’ve felt this sensation fully, see what else you notice.

Continue in this way until your timer goes off. Once it does, take a few deep breaths and rest.

Up next…

At the next session of this workshop, we will touch on attachment styles which are also called emotional relating styles; they inform the way we act in our relationships. Our attachment style is formed very early on in life.

When we become aware of these early imprints, we can have healthier relationships. Come and discuss the patterns you find yourself exhibiting in relationships. Are you someone who easily pulls away or perhaps you become anxious when your partner doesn’t do what they say they are going to do?

Bring your vulnerable heart and your curiosity. We hope to see you there. Come as you ARE.
