What Can You Count On?

Padma Gordon

There are so many moments where we may feel like God or the Universe has forsaken us. Maybe it’s a moment where as a Rare Mother you’ve made a mistake (and because you’re human, it will happen) a mistake that could have very real consequences like losing services that your child absolutely needs and you panic. What can you do? Where can you turn?

This week in our intimate Faith Group one Rare Mother said, “Only one thing is for sure and that is God. I return to my faith and I am held by Him. I realize I don’t have to stay in my panic because I know it’s not up to me and I feel relieved.” It’s simple when we are able to interrupt the cycle of fear and panic and turn to something larger. Trying to control things takes a lot of energy. What if you were willing to hand it over, trust and have faith? What if you could count on something beyond your own strategies and intelligence? How would this make a difference for you?

We have been exploring questions like these in our Faith Group. When you take the time to show up for your faith--it deepens. Then in a moment when you get a letter from the government and your heart leaps into your throat because you think it might say that your support is being cut and you wonder what you will do. A Rare Mother in our group said, “Whenever I get one of those government letters and fear arises, I rest into my faith, I rest into God’s Love and I step aside. I realize that I am both part of the system and part of a larger plan where we are taken care of no matter what.”

You are invited to join our group. Here are some things Rare Mothers are experiencing:

- A sense of expansiveness through faith

- A place to share about their faith and what it means to them

- A chance to talk about times when all they had was their faith and how it served

- A community where they can open up

Let your faith lead and you follow. Let yourself be guided as you listen deeply and move out of your head and into your heart. I look forward to being with you for our first meeting of the new year this coming Tuesday, January 5 at 10am PST. Please reach out to me if you have questions about the group. I am here as your ally.

With blessings for a happy, peaceful and faith-filled new year,

Padma
